Resident Playwrights

MICHELINE AUGER is a freelance writer, playwright and producer. She received the 2015 New York Innovative Theater Award for Outstanding Original Full-Length Script for her play Donkey Punch which was produced off-Broadway. She was voted one of Indie Theater’s 2014 People of the Year and was awarded with the National Theatre Conference’s Paul Green Award by veteran Broadway producer Liz McCann. Her work has been developed or produced by Dixon Place, Primary Stages, The Flea, Rising Phoenix Rep, Lesser America, Westside Theatre, Ivy Theater Company, Amoralab, FringeNYC, New York Madness, OMPF, Horse Trade Theatre Group, Riot Act, Caps Lock Theatre Company, Sugarspace and Highways Performance Complex, among others. She wrote the column Verbatim for Planet Jackson Hole where she interviewed residents about their views on local and national politics, in addition to other features. She is currently working on a commission by The Farm Theater Company for the College Collaboration Project.

She is also the creator and editor-in-chief of the theater blog Theaterspeak and the event, WRITE OUT FRONT which has put over 200 award-winning and up-and-coming playwrights in the window of the Drama Book Shop writing new plays on view of the public in the Times Square Theater District. WRITE OUT FRONT and has been featured on the front page of the New York Times Saturday Arts Section, WNYC, Time Out NY, and on NY1. Penny’s most recent production with NYMadness was BOWERY STREET BLUES at The Paradise Factory. Her new production, SAFE, will be part of the curated theater series at The Theater at the 14th Street Y. Her novel, BECOMING THE BUTLERS, was published by Bantam books and optioned by Warner Brothers.
