Claudia Weill: is a film, television, and theatre director. Her feature films include GIRLFRIENDS made independently and sold to Warner Brothers after awards at Cannes, Filmex and Sundance, IT’S MY TURN for Columbia Pictures and the feature documentary w/Shirley Maclaine THE OTHER HALF OF THE SKY A CHINA MEMOIR, (Academy Award Nom) about the first women’s delegation to the Peoples Republic of China in 1973.
She has directed theatre at Williamstown, the O’Neill, Sundance, ACT, MTC, Circle Rep, the Public Theatre (Margulies’ FOUND A PEANUT, Drama Desk Nom), Pasadena Playhouse, EST NY & LA, Irish Repertory Theatre, The BELLE of BELFAST and most recently, 77% by Rinne Groff at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse.
Among her favorite work as a TV director is HBO GIRLS, thirty something (Emmy Award), MY SO-CALLED LIFE and Sesame Street, as well as several cable movies. She has taught Film Directing at USC and CAL ARTS, currently teaching TV Directing at the Columbia School of the Arts. She serves on the Executive Committee for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to which she was the 3rd woman admitted as a director.”
